2. How to install (as user root):

tar -xvzf <path_where_you_downloaded_it>/linux_mfs-CLUSTER_GUI-<version>.tgz
   a directory 'mfs_Cluster-<version>' (including some subdirectories) will 
   be created.

cd mfs_Cluster-<version>
./unix_install

CAUTION! The install script is not working properly under ubuntu 7.04 because /bin/dash is defined as the default shell. Please edit ./unix_install and ./bin/linux/src/check_sw.sh in the first line and change /bin/sh to /bin/bash. It should work then.

dependencies:
     - ssh (should be in user's PATH)
     - Tcl/Expect
         - /usr/bin/wish
         - /usr/bin/tclsh
     - rxvt (should be in user's PATH)
     - gcc (C-compiler)
     - xmessage (should be in user's PATH)
     - libstdc++6
   for debian and ubuntu (naming can be different for other distributions):
     - libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2
   for Fedora:
       expect-5.42.1-1.i386.rpm  - expect-5.43.0-3.1.i386.rpm
       expectk-5.42.1-1.i386.rpm - expectk-5.43.0-3.1.i386.rpm

network:
	The GUI uses the ports 22(ssh)

        even port 113 is closed/rejected the GUI will work, 
        just setup of network-connections needs slightly more time 

'CLUSTER GUI' is checked for: RH9.0, FC4/5/6, Mandrake 10.1, Debian 3.1/4.0, 
                              SUSE 10, ubuntu 6.06 dapper drake, ubuntu 7.04 feisty fawn

3. Known bugs and troubleshooting
   ------------------------------

3.1 switch between fullscreen and non-fullscreen mode with the 
    tight-vncviewer doesn't work reliable. Sometimes vncviewer lose the 
    keyboard.
    ALT+CTRL+ESC helps to recover in some LINUX distributions (e.g. RH9).



4. Important notes:
   ----------------

4.1 This distribution includes RealVNC viewer Free Edition 4.1.2 .
    Personal/Enterprise Edition 4.2.9 seems to be remarkable faster,
    particularly with regard to DSL networks. But these editions are not 
    free! You have to buy a license!

  
    If you wish to upgrade:

    After you downloaded the appropriate version of Stand-alone Viewer from
    http://www.realvnc.com/ execute the following procedure to exchange
    'Free Edition' with 'Personal/Enterprise Edition':


    cd mfs_Cluster-<version>
    ./upgrade_realvnc_viewer
